The Nigerian market at a glance (2024 published baseline)

Because the Lagos State government is pushing its Clean Air Initiative, converted electric vehicles enjoy bridge-toll relief and priority road access. Three Lagos battery-swap pilot fleets have already moved fully onto the TIANQIU supply chain.

The end of the fuel subsidy: a survival threshold for Keke fleets

When the Nigerian federal government removed the petrol subsidy in mid-2023, the cost structure of every Keke operator was rewritten. Electrification moved from optional to essential.

  • Fuel price versus profit: petrol jumped from ₦195 to over ₦1,100 per litre. A Keke driver turning over roughly ₦18,000 a day now loses more than 60% of that to fuel.
  • Demand up 320%: fleet operators and owner-drivers moving to ICE-to-EV retrofit pushed conversion demand up 320%, opening a clear window for workshops and distributors.
  • Cost comparison: the traditional fuelled cost base is ₦10,500 per day, against ₦2,200 for charging a TIANQIU pack — and that gap is the driver’s net cash flow.

engineeringField Validation & Reality

Hard engineering, proven in real West African service

No inflated laboratory figures. Every TIANQIU pack has completed 12,000+ km of commercial field validation in the harshest parts of Lagos and Oshodi.

  • Extreme stop-start Lagos duty (Oshodi street reality): 14 hours of operation a day, an average of nine stops and starts per kilometre, ambient 36–41°C and three to four adult passengers. The BMS must absorb an instantaneous 180A inrush without tripping into a false cut-out.
  • No welding, no modification by local mechanics: a 15-minute drop-in replacement in the Bajaj base with fast-fit Anderson SB120/175 vibration-rated high-current connectors. Mounting holes are tooled 1:1 to the original, with an anti-theft locking slot, so a roadside mechanic can install it unaided.
  • 55°C continuous full-load discharge: infrared thermal imaging shows cell temperature rise held within 7°C, and aerospace-grade thermal potting blocks the 60°C radiant ground heat of the dry-season noon. Cycle life is ≥3,500 cycles at 80% DoD with a 65°C thermal cut-off threshold.
  • Thickened armoured sealing: a 2.0mm cold-rolled carbon steel, painted enclosure stands up to Nigerian rainy-season street flooding and equatorial coastal salt spray (96-hour salt-spray qualification), with an external digital voltmeter for instant status.

powerGrid & Generator Tolerance

An architecture built for Nigeria’s hostile grid

Almost every tricycle in West Africa charges from a small petrol generator after a grid outage — the “I pass my neighbor” unit — or from low-grade diesel generation. Output swings violently between 140V and 280V, and ordinary chargers and weak BMS boards are destroyed by the overvoltage pulses.

offline_bolt

140V–280V AC ultra-wide digital charger

Active power factor correction (APFC) with active clamping suppresses the higher harmonics produced by generator sets and lightning-induced transients up to 1200V, so the vehicle leaves on a full pack every morning.

EMC: CISPR 25 Class 3 industrial certification
security

Bi-directional dual solid-state relay redundancy

On any overvoltage input or reverse transient pulse, the hardware protection loop hard-cuts within 8 milliseconds — without collateral damage to the vehicle’s cell group.

helpFrequently Asked Questions

What Nigerian buyers and local fleets ask us most

We cannot open a full USD letter of credit in Lagos — do you accept offshore or local naira (NGN) payment?expand_more
Several settlement routes are available. Beyond conventional USD TT and L/C, our Nigerian joint-venture entity can accept corporate-to-corporate naira transfers from local banks, and we support compliant China–Africa offshore FX channels (for example Dubai or Singapore trading accounts) to avoid the delays caused by the inverted central bank rate.
Drivers here charge from small petrol generators — will long-term use shrink the battery or make it dangerous?expand_more
No. The export configuration includes a purely hardware-level AC front-end voltage regulator stage with high-margin varistors and transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes. Even when a generator surges because it is running out of fuel, the charger completes a second filtering and regulation stage, delivering only smooth DC to the pack.
There are cheap 60V lithium packs on Jiji or in Lagos computer village — how is TIANQIU fundamentally different?expand_more
More than 90% of those loose, low-cost packs use B/C-grade cells salvaged from Chinese energy-storage stations, or welded assemblies of second-hand 18650 cells. They show wide voltage spread, no water-resistant enclosure and no over-temperature cut-off. TIANQIU uses new A-grade automotive LiFePO4 blade or prismatic cells with individually traceable serial numbers, genuinely delivering 3,500+ heavy commercial cycles.
Lagos floods waist-deep in the rainy season around Lekki and Victoria Island — will the battery take on water?expand_more
Every system meets strict IP67. Enclosure seams use an industrial expanded-polyurethane gasket with high-strength fasteners, and the power connector is a custom double O-ring locked design. Field testing covers continuous driving through 0.8m of standing water, with insulation resistance inside the battery bay staying above the 500MΩ safety threshold.
If a BMS board or part fails, how fast can spare parts arrive?expand_more
We operate a West Africa after-sales transit spares warehouse in the Ikeja industrial area of Lagos, holding 300+ smart BMS boards, high-current sockets and dedicated harnesses year-round. Every container shipment also includes a free 2% consumable repair-parts kit, and a local technician can complete a factory-module replacement in as little as two hours.
We are a Lagos conversion workshop or dealership — can we OEM-brand the pack and customise the enclosure logo?expand_more
Yes. Orders of 50 units or more qualify for free laser silk-screening or nameplate customisation, including the fleet name, your own breakdown-service number and a custom anti-counterfeit QR code. We can also ship SKD / CKD kits to help you establish a light assembly line in Nigeria and substantially reduce your duty outlay.
