Motive lithium systems built for Sri Lankan tricycle conversion60V / 72V upgrade series · original mounting points, no shell cutting

With fuel prices climbing and foreign exchange tight, more than 1.05 million tricycles already on Sri Lankan roads can move to an in-frame, drill-free conversion with a 3-year automotive-grade LiFePO4 system — adding LKR 45,000 net income per vehicle per month. No workshop re-tooling: technicians reuse the factory harness and the dedicated mounting cradle to replace the original two-stroke or four-stroke tank and exhaust directly.

On-site assembly and road-test evidence from Sri Lanka

Built around how Colombo conversion workshops actually work, the TIANQIU cradle and sealing system is specified for Sri Lankan heat, humidity and rough roads — a 45-minute, fully in-frame swap.

  • Colombo conversion workshop, in production: no line re-tooling — technicians use the harness supplied in the crate and the dedicated lifting cradle to replace the original two-stroke or four-stroke tank and exhaust, with the whole vehicle back on the road in 45 minutes (field-fitment reference: E-POWER LANKA 60V).
  • Patented in-frame cradle, no shell cutting: sized for the underbody envelope of the Bajaj RE, TVS King and Piaggio Ape. No oxy-acetylene cutting or welding, and the cradle locks onto the Bajaj RE factory holes — protecting frame stiffness and the annual inspection result.
  • SLS 1656 type-approval bench: fully passed the Sri Lankan Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) programme for converted tricycles — electrical insulation, short-circuit fusing, overcharge thermal runaway and high-humidity leakage — with insulation resistance above 500 MΩ.
  • Colombo commercial fleet road test: 50 taxi vehicles ran six consecutive months fully loaded (three passengers plus freight). Range with a full pack is engineered for 135–145 km, with fleet availability targeted at ≥99%.

Engineered around Sri Lanka’s three hardest constraints

This is not a generic lithium pack: it is a powertrain assembly specified for a grid that swings hard, mountain gradients that stay steep, and a coastal climate of heavy salt-laden humidity.

electric_meter

140V–280V wide-voltage adaptive charging

In suburban and rural Sri Lanka the grid is unstable — as low as 150V at the trough and occasionally 270V at the peak. The BMS and the matching on-board charger run a wide-range active PFC regulator stage, so undervoltage never overheats and surges never burn the board. Vehicles leave every morning on a full pack.

Continuous peak discharge on Kandy gradients

The central highlands around Kandy and Nuwara Eliya are steep and tight. High-rate automotive cells deliver 3C burst current for 30 seconds on a climb, while the BMS releases torque smoothly — eliminating the stall-and-roll-back risk of a loaded tricycle on a gradient.

IP67 dual-seal water and salt-spray protection

The enclosure is cold-rolled high-strength galvanised steel with automotive electrophoretic coating, verified over 480 hours of neutral salt-spray testing. A double-lip silicone gasket and a Gore breather valve keep Colombo coastal flooding safe at 300mm wading depth with no leakage path.

Per-vehicle monthly return model for an e-tuk conversion

Sri Lankan operators are squeezed between volatile fuel prices and parts inflation. On typical field data, a TIANQIU 7.2kWh system cuts fuel spend by more than 82% per 100 km and retains over LKR 1,180,000 of pure operating cash for the owner across three years.

helpExpert FAQs

Sri Lanka conversion questions, answered by our engineers

On an old two-stroke tricycle, how does the battery mount to the frame? Is cutting and welding required?expand_more
No cutting and no structural welding. We designed a patented inverted, drill-free cradle for the factory Bajaj RE 2S/4S frame. It uses the original fuel-tank bolts and the exhaust hanger points as the primary load anchors, and installation takes just 45 minutes. That preserves the torsional stiffness of an ageing frame and passes the DMT (Department of Motor Traffic) re-registration inspection.
Sri Lanka sits at 32–38°C with high humidity — will a LiFePO4 pack in permanent outdoor service suffer thermal runaway?expand_more
The pack uses automotive-grade, highly stable LiFePO4 cells with a thermal decomposition temperature above 600°C. For the tropical climate we build in an aerospace-grade aerogel barrier and a phase-change conduction structure, which holds internal cell temperature rise below 46°C during continuous 38°C sun-exposed running. Six high-precision NTC sensors are fitted, and on extreme over-temperature the BMS automatically reduces discharge current — combustion and thermal runaway are designed out.
Given Sri Lanka’s forex shortage, which settlement methods do you support?expand_more
For local importers and conversion workshops we support several compliant channels: sight and usance irrevocable letters of credit from mainstream Sri Lankan banks (Bank of Ceylon, Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Hatton National Bank and others) at L/C at sight or 60–90 days, offshore USD/EUR telegraphic transfer, and a local collection-and-payment channel through our strategic trading partner in Colombo.
What is the minimum order quantity, and how quickly can test samples reach Colombo?expand_more
For first-round technical validation and road testing we open sample orders from just 2 kits, and 60V 100Ah and 72V 120Ah can be mixed in one batch. Once the samples leave the factory, the dangerous-goods sea service takes an estimated 14–18 days to the Port of Colombo, and each crate ships with full installation drawings, the wiring harness and the matching on-board charger.
As a Class 9 dangerous good (UN3480), how do you guarantee clean Sri Lankan customs clearance?expand_more
TIANQIU holds the complete battery export licence set. Every batch ships with the customs-recognised packing performance inspection certificate (dangerous-goods packing certificate), the current UN38.3 test summary, the MSDS and the sea transport condition appraisal. Packs are palletised in standard UN-certified anti-static composite crates and braced, fully meeting Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and IMO DG Class 9 loading requirements.
How does local warranty work — what happens if a module or BMS fails?expand_more
We run a “critical spares pre-positioned + remote diagnostics” model. Each container order includes a free consumable-spares kit at 2% of value (factory BMS control board, connectors, contactors and harness). Our partner service station in Colombo holds a diagnostic tool, and the system supports Bluetooth and CAN-bus live fault reading. Non-manufacturing defects within warranty are resolved by local replacement — no return to China.
